From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
